‘Castle’ Interview: Jon Huertas on Season 4 and His Porn Name

Castle had one of the biggest panels on the Sunday of the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con. Although the official Comic-Con program listed only star Nathan Fillion in attendance, most of the Castle cast joined Fillion on the stage. After the panel, those stars spoke with reporters about Castle, Comic-Con and what’s coming next for the show.

 

Jon Huertas, Detective Javier Esposito on the show, was among the stars at Comic-Con.

 

So, Castle, the beginning of the season. What can you tell us about what’s going on?

 

Jon Huertas: Well, I break into song. No, I’m just kidding.

 

At the beginning of the season we’re picking up right where we left off from the last season. It’s going to be pretty intense. The opening of the episode will be intense. We have to kind of figure out what happens with Beckett, and it’s a difficult, difficult time for every character on the show. And then we also have to grieve Montgomery still.

 

In lieu of that, we get a new captain trying to replace Montgomery and that’s something that is not so easy for us to deal with in this first episode. On top of all that, I’m trying to figure out who shot Beckett, and we welcome this new captain, we get a murder. So we have to investigate the murder. Is Beckett ready, if she lives, is she ready to come back to work? We have to deal with that. So there’s a lot of stuff going on in the first episode.

 

And the new captain, this new captain is not as relaxed as Montgomery. It’s hard for me and Ryan, Esposito and Ryan to break the rules a little bit, to gather information because she’s a hard-lined type of captain who is, I think, working towards her next big job, and not necessarily focused on the justice, in trying to make sure an innocent man doesn’t go to jail. She just wants it solved…
