Jon is is an American actor and US Air Force Veteran. Before becoming a professional actor, he served for eight years and was becoming a veteran of three major conflicts that include the 1st Gulf War (Desert Storm).

His career started in 1993 when he played an uncredited part in The Webbers. He also was an after school director at John Burroughs Middle school for a year.

In 2000 he was nominated for ALMA Award in the Emerging Actor in a Drama Series category for his role as Brad Alcerro in Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

He is no stranger to the small screen. In the critically acclaimed miniseries Generation Kill, his stand-out performance as Sgt. Tony “Poke” Espera illustrates a streetwise philosophical view of what the U.S. Marines’ 1st Recon Battalion endured during the first five weeks of the invasion on Iraq.

Jon co-produced and starred in the film The Insatiable with Sean Patrick Flanery and Michael Biehn. He also co-starred in Right at Your Door, which won Best Cinematography at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Other features Huertas has starred in include The Objective, Believers, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, Bug, Executive Decision, Stash House and Miss Dial. He first gained international public attention starring as Antonio on Moesha, before joining the cast Sabrina, The Teenage Witch as Brad Alcero.

Jon has built an impressive resume during his career which exemplifies his wide array of talents and remarkable artistic range. He wrote and co-directed his first short movie “Lone” back in 2011. In 2012, he created and released his own web-serie “El Gato Blanco”, and is currently working on his new short movie “The Box”, which he wrote, co-directed (with Andrew Bikichky) and shot last year, with his Castle co-star and friend, actress Tamala Jones.

A native New Yorker trained in Musical Theatre at TCU, he also writes and performs his own music. His first album, “Grown and Sexy Music” released June 11th 2013. Two singles, Ledge of Love and Champion already released and received amazing feedbacks by the fans.

Jon is currently co-starring with Nathan Fillion, Seamus Dever, Stana Katic, Penny Johnson Jerald and Tamala Jones in ABC’s ‘Castle’. For five years now, Jon brilliantly portrays detective Javier Esposito, NYPD cop, partner of Kate Beckett and Kevin Ryan at the 12th Precinct.

Very loved by the fandom, Jon won the Alma Awards of the favorite TV Drama supporting actor for his role in Castle in september 2012. You can watch his speech here. Well deserved!! In may 2013, ABC officially renewed Castle for a 6th season.
